About the program and its main topics
The Bachelor's program in Counseling and Mental Health was established with the establishment of the College of Educational Sciences in the academic year 1972/1973. The program's study plan consists of 132 credit hours divided into (27) hours of university requirements, (27) hours of college requirements, and (78) hours of specialization requirements. The study materials are distributed between compulsory and elective requirements and (12) hours of field training that fall under the compulsory specialization materials. The basic topics of the program are based on: the basics and principles of psychological and educational counseling and the principles of psychological and educational measurement, i.e. also it addresses students' problems and methods of dealing with them and methods of communication in counseling.This program explains in the materials offered through it the types of guidance: such as preventive guidance, school guidance, and rehabilitation guidance. It also covers courses on psychological pressure and expressive activities in guidance. At the end of the specialization materials, the student is expected to complete field training in guidance in the final semester for graduation.
