This part-time degree will prepare you to spearhead and lead learning and development in Early ChildhoodEducation andCare (ECEC).Modules include exploring curricula and pedagogy, play, learning and development, reflective practice, supporting creativity and imagination. Professional work placement practice is an important feature.

The programme is delivered in partnership with Early Childhood Ireland; a leading organisation in Ireland focused on the development, delivery and advocacy of early childhood care and education. Offered in partnership with Early Childhood Ireland this is a part-time, level 8 honours degree, which is delivered over evenings, some Saturdays and two one-week blocks.

The programme was originally designed to provide flexible learning opportunities for those already working in Tusla-notified early childhood settings but it also caters for those aspiring to enter the sector from Leaving Certificate and further education paths. This level 8 Bachelor's degree allows you to work and study simultaneously.
Work placements take place in Tusla-notified early childhood settings.
It is aflexible and progressive part-time level 8 degree where relevant prior learning is recognised.
You would like the option of progressing your career in early childhood in varied professional roles.

Graduates emerge as early years teaching professionals. Career progression within this sector, for those with this kind of degree, is expanding rapidly beyond early childhood care and education settings to include opportunities within policy development and evaluation agencies within the Department of Education and Skills, Department of Children and Youth Affairs etc.

In Order To Complete Your Maynooth University Study Abroad Application You Need:

Passport photo page scan (please ensure you include your name when saving the scanned document)
Two academic references (if GPA is below 3.0)
English language test score (if English is not your first language)

The English Language Requirements Are:

IELTS 6.5 (minimum 6.0 in each band)
TOEFL paper-based (560) or TOEFL IBT (92) (we do not accept TOEFL ITP)

APPLICATION PROCESS

You Have Submitted Your Application, What Happens Next?

Once you submit your application the international office team will process your details and will assess if your application is suitable to be accepted. This process can be time consuming but we endeavour to respond to you with an update within 2-4 weeks of submitting your application.

ACCEPTANCE EMAILS will be sent to the email address entered on the application form on a rolling basis.

Once you have submitted your application we highly advise you to start looking at the type of classes you can study here at Maynooth University.

If you are a student with a disability you can register with the Disability Office for advice and support. You will be allocated a Disability Advisor who will coordinate a range of supports to help you reach your full potential while studying with us. In order to be allocated to an advisor and avail of these supports, you must register with the Disability Office, which should be done after you receive your acceptance and before arrival in Maynooth.

Please note, if you wish to avail of Exam Accommodations, the deadline for Exam Accommodations is the first Friday in November for the January exams and the first Friday in March for both the May and August exams.
