Full time, Level 8, honours degree, catering for those aspiring to enter the Early Childhood Education and Care sector from Leaving Certificate, further education or mature student paths. Those currently working in the ECEC sector may be interested in the flexible BA in Early Chidhood Teaching and Learning (MH801).

Why choose this degree?
The programme is closely linked with Early Childhood Education and Care practice, and its staff are experienced in the development, delivery and advocacy of Early Childhood Care and Education.
Work placements take place in Tusla-notified Early Childhood Education and Care settings. The total hours of placement each year is 420 hours in total. This is normally done on either one or two days per week, as well as block placements (one or two weeks at a time). Normally students access their own Tusla notified setting using their own contacts but in the event that this is not possible the University makes the necessary arrangements.

It is a progressive Level 8 degree, supporting the development of outstanding early childhood educators.

Career

Graduates emerge as early years teaching professionals. Career progression within this sector, for those with a level 8 Early Childhood degree, is expanding rapidly beyond Early Childhood Education and Care settings to include opportunities within policy development and evaluation agencies within government departments, semi-state bodies and NGO's

The Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Teaching and Learning positions graduates to spearhead and lead learning in Early Childhood Education and Care services.

Graduates may also take up roles with local development agencies within the early childhood sector both nationally and internationally.

The English Language Requirements Are:

IELTS 6.5 (minimum 6.0 in each band)
TOEFL paper-based (560) or TOEFL IBT (92) (we do not accept TOEFL ITP)

APPLICATION PROCESS

You Have Submitted Your Application, What Happens Next?

Once you submit your application the international office team will process your details and will assess if your application is suitable to be accepted. This process can be time consuming but we endeavour to respond to you with an update within 2-4 weeks of submitting your application.

ACCEPTANCE EMAILS will be sent to the email address entered on the application form on a rolling basis.

Once you have submitted your application we highly advise you to start looking at the type of classes you can study here at Maynooth University.
