    About

Develop the foundation of new software technologies

Computer Scientists work on challenging, complex problems. They develop the foundation of new software technologies, both theoretical and practical. Computer science is fundamental to the newest trends in computing, including artificial intelligence and machine learning, quantum computing, cybersecurity advancements and the development of immersive virtual and augmented reality experiences.

Through this program, you can gain valuable industry experience while completing your studies. APS supports you while you obtain your degree, offering a study allowance each semester. Upon program completion, successful students will be offered an ongoing full-time job with the organisation.

Students enrolled in this degree are encouraged to apply for the Data and Digital Cadet Programs, delivered on campus in collaboration with The Australian Public Service (APS).

With this degree, you could develop sophisticated systems to support access to education. Or develop virtual reality programs to help people recover from post-traumatic stress. Or fight diseases by discovering biomarkers that allow early diagnosis.

This degree produces innovative and resourceful computer scientists who can solve complex problems. Our graduates excel in cutting-edge fields like AI, robotics, graphics, digital forensics, web development and cybersecurity.

These trends are part of everyday technologies. This includes AI-powered virtual assistants in smart phones, machine learning based disease prediction and health monitoring, sophisticated cyber security protocols protecting social media data, VR and AR gaming experiences or educational tools, and smart home appliances that learn and adapt to user preferences.

    Course overview

Students are able to specialise in their degree by choosing one of the three majors in which they will study a special suite of courses.

Each of the majors will further develop in-depth technical knowledge and skills in that field of computing and prepare them to work effectively in that area. The available majors are:

    • Artificial Intelligence
    • Cyber Security
    • Software Development

    Requirements
