    Overview

    • UniSQ’s Bachelor of Creative Arts and Community Wellbeing (Visual Art) will expand your creativity, leadership and facilitation skills, and your understanding of the needs of community care and development.
    • Build your technical, analytical and research skills within all visual art areas, including the studio disciplines: painting, ceramics, printmaking, sculpture, and drawing, and be introduced to curatorial and cultural management.
    • The combination of courses in human services and visual arts, along with a project placement in a community organisation during your final year, will make you career-ready to utilise your creative talents to generate wellbeing in diverse communities.

    Entry requirements

    To study this degree we assume you have sound knowledge in:

    • English (Units 3 and 4, C)

    We assume that your knowledge is equivalent to a grade C or higher in Units 3 and 4 at Year 12 high school level. Find out more about assumed knowledge.

    • Attend an interview with selected creative arts discipline staff to confirm satisfactory capacity to participate in practical courses. For registration and interview tips, please see our Auditions and interviews page. Please note that you will need to apply for your degree before registering to interview.

    Note: It is a requirement that Queensland-based students hold a current positive notice indicating that they are deemed suitable for working with children and young people whilst studying the Bachelor of Creative Arts and Community Wellbeing. Further information about the Blue Card or Exemption Card suitability process is available from the Blue Card Services.

    Interview information

    Applicants will need to bring:

    • a head shot-style photo
    • a school exit statement, or evidence of previous education standard achieved
    • a portfolio of previous achievements relevant to the visual art major, containing at least 8-10 high quality images of your work. It is not necessary to bring the physical works. Be prepared to discuss your work, achievements and experiences with the interview panel.
    • please bring a written statement (500 words) addressing your interests, goals and aspirations in studying the Bachelor of Creative Arts and Community Wellbeing, with some reflection on your previous performing arts/theatre experiences and training.

    English language requirements

    You are required to meet the applicable English language requirements and this degree requires a minimum of IELTS 6.0 with a minimum 5.5 in each subscore. UniSQ also accepts other English language proficiency tests.

    If you don't meet the English language requirements, you can apply to study with our English language partner, the Union Institute of Language (UIL), or if you're a domestic student you can apply to study UniSQ Ready courses TPP0122 and TPP0123.

    English Program Requirements

    Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) allows students to gain credit (advanced standing) towards their course in recognition of skills and knowledge gained through work experience, life experience and/or formal training. Applicants are assessed on a case-by-case basis.

    • Work in the creative industries and apply your talents and abilities in other areas like community services (youth, indigenous, aged, refugee, homeless, unemployed, disability etc.), hospitals/allied health, correctional services, local government, and charity organisations.
