    Practitioners in the creative and performing arts industry need to be collaborative. Practitioners combine a variety of technical skills in creative thinking, design, music, performance, production and writing. This program will enable you to develop your professional skills and networks as you transition into your career.

    Course overview

    The degree offers a wide range of courses in areas suited to your own interests across the School of Creative Industries and the University. Depending on your chosen major/s, examples of what you will study include –

    • Directing
    • Music Recording and Production Technique
    • Scenography
    • Songwriting and Production
    • Sound and Lighting
    • Stagecraft

    Students have the option of completing a single or a double major in this program. Students completing a double major can choose either a double major from the Music and Performing Arts major options (Double Major Pathway B); or one of the Music and Performing Arts major and one School of Creative Industries (SOCI) Major (Double Major Pathway C).

    Requirements

    Entry Requirements

    Selection of applicants will be made on the basis of their Admission application and performance in:

    • the Admission Application (written assessment)
    • the Audition (performance and portfolio)
    • the Interview (oral assessment)

    All candidates must complete all of the below requirements to be eligible to be considered for entry to the Bachelor of Music and Performing Arts:

    1. Lodge an Admission Application - admission information for domestic applicants is available here, and for international applicants here.
    2. Complete and submit your online Audition Application
    3. Audition and Interview (details in Additional Selection Criteria section below)

    Applicants must meet one of the criteria below to meet the Admission Application requirement (step 1 above):

    • Completed Year 12 studies - NSW HSC or equivalent qualification (there is no minimum Selection Rank requirement); or
    • Completed, or partly completed, higher education studies (0.25FTE completed or greater); or
    • TAFE/VET qualification, with a minimum of a completed Certificate II (AQF level 2); or
    • Completed recognised enabling program; or
    • Overseas qualifications equivalent to Australian studies (International); or
    • Post-secondary professional qualifications.

    The music and performing arts degree enables collaboration between performers, writers and producers. Through engaging in live music and stage performance, combined with studio production through creative project-based assessment. You showcase your work in a variety of venues and presentation styles, as well as collaborate on projects with peers across the performing arts, music, creative writing, composition and creative production.
