    Industry trends

Oral health is a growing field with strong job prospects in Australia and internationally. Driven by an ageing population and an increased awareness about oral health’s impact on overall wellbeing, the demand for oral health professionals in Australia is expected to rise significantly over the coming years (Jobs and Skills Australia, 2024).

Globally, the United Nations General Assembly has reaffirmed its strong commitment to scaling up efforts to address oral health as part of universal health coverage (UHC). In the Draft Global Oral Health Action Plan (2023 – 2030), they state the global burden of oral diseases and conditions is an urgent public health challenge with social, economic and environmental impacts – particularly given oral diseases and conditions disproportionately affect poor, vulnerable and marginalised members of societies. With a degree in Oral Health from Adelaide University, you’ll be well placed to contribute to a more equitable and healthy global society by improving teeth and gums.
