Bioanalytical Chemistry (B.S.)
Bioanalytical Chemistry (B.S.)
About
The Bachelor of Science in Bioanalytical Chemistry explores modern techniques in chemical and biochemical methods, as well as instrumental techniques for analysis and detection of biomolecules and biologically active molecules. These include small drugs, drug metabolites, proteins, peptides, antibodies, DNAs, enzymes, and biologics.
Illinois Tech is the first university in the country to offer a B.S. in bioanalytical chemistry. The degree program provides an interdisciplinary background in bioanalytical principles and methods, and applications of analytical chemistry for detection, characterization, and quantification of bioactive molecules in biological systems.
Opportunities to conduct undergraduate research with chemistry faculty in biosensor technology, microscopic protein detection, antibody drug conjugate chemistry, and computational simulation of protein-protein interaction are available to help you gain a competitive edge for entry into the workforce or graduate studies.

Requirements
Entry Requirements
Admission to Illinois Tech is required to enroll in the B.S. bioanalytical chemistry program. Consult your academic adviser to transfer into the program.
English Program Requirements
International students who fit into any of the following categories will be considered to have met the requirement:
- Residents of a country where English is the only official language and who is a native English speaker
- Graduates of U.S. high schools
- Completed the equivalent of Iowa State’s English 150 or 250 with a grade of B or better at an accredited U.S. 2 year or 4 year college or university.
CONDITIONAL ADMISSION
If you meet all admission requirements but do not meet our English proficiency requirements, Iowa State offers conditional admission to attend our Intensive English and Orientation Program (IEOP). If you would like to enroll in IEOP, on the application choose "I would like to enroll in Iowa State’s IEOP program before I begin the academic study.”
