    About

    Biochemistry is crucial to the study and treatment of diseases, the development of pharmaceuticals, and the complex relationships with our environment. You will learn about the chemical processes that occur within living organisms and how cells work at the sub-cellular and molecular levels. You’ll gain an in-depth understanding of the biochemical function of living organisms, from bacteria to plants, animals, and humans. You will develop excellent project management skills and learn how to design experiments and plan work programmes.

    Entry Requirements

    The entry requirements for the 3-year BSc include:

    A-levels/Advanced Skills Baccalaureate Wales: AAB-BCC. Chemistry essential, plus at least one other science (usually Biology)

    IB: 32-34 to include Higher Level grades in Chemistry, plus at least one other science (usually Biology)

    BTEC: Typically Distinction to Double Distinction plus A Level Grade B in Chemistry

    T Levels: We welcome applicants with T levels. Applicants will be assessed on a case by case basis.

    As well as one of the above qualification types applicants are required:

    GCSE: English/Welsh and Maths minimum Grade C Wales (England Pre-2017) or Grade 4 (England Post-2017)

    We accept Swansea University approved equivalent qualifications.

    For applicants whose first language is not English we require a minimum overall IELTS score of 6.0 (or equivalent) and no less than 5.5 in each component.
