    Biomedical Technology

    About

In order to unravel the complexities of human health and disease, you must first have a strong foundation in the basic sciences (subjects such as biology and chemistry) and the clinical sciences (which includes courses like hematology and immunology).

Thats precisely what our Biomedical Technology degree provides, making it a popular choice among students interested in pursuing a master's degree in Physician Assistant Studies or ACPHSs own graduate programs in Clinical Laboratory Sciences (CLS) and Cytotechnology & Molecular Cytology (CYTO). This is why ACPHS's is one of the top Biomedical Technology Colleges.

Added benefit: Students may pair the B.S. in Biomedical Technology with one of our CLS or CYTO master's degrees as part of a dual degree program. These programs allow you to obtain a Bachelor's in Biomedical Technology and the selected Master's degree in just five years - which is one year less than it would ordinarily take.

    Requirements

    Entry Requirements

    • Scores from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), if the applicant has studied for fewer than 4 years where English is the language of instruction.
    • Completed Foreign Education Credentials Evaluation form from the World Education Service (WES) for post-secondary education completed outside of the U.S.

Pending approval of the application, a letter of acceptance and a Declaration and Certification of Finances form will be sent. The applicant must return this form promptly to the College with a non-refundable tuition deposit. International students coming from outside the United States are required to pay a $200 SEVIS fee directly to the government.

Payment of enrollment deposit and submission of supporting financial documents to the College will allow the College to forward to the applicant the Certificate of Eligibility form I-20A. This form is required for a visa. International applicants are not eligible for need-based federal and state financial aid

    English Program Requirements

Applicants who are not U.S. Citizens or U.S. Permanent Residents are required to submit scores from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), unless English has been the primary language of instruction for four or more years.

A minimum score on the TOEFL of 474 paper-based (70% of the maximum score of 677), or 84 Internet-based (70% of the maximum score of 120) must be achieved to be considered for admission.

    Career

For many graduates of the Biomedical Technology program, their degree serves as a springboard to a Physician Assistant Studies program or one of College's own master's degree programs (most typically Clinical Laboratory Sciences or Cytotechnology & Molecular Cytology).

Those seeking to immediately enter the workforce are well qualified to obtain positions in the biomedical device industry in roles such as sales, research, and technical support.

Below are some additional examples of what our recent graduates have done immediately following graduation:

    - Enrolled in Nursing School
    - Enrolled in Optometry School
    - Employed at Regeneron Pharmaceuticals
    - Employed as a Scribe (a Scribe helps facilitate the needs of a physician)
