About

The degree programme Master of Science in Biomolecular Engineering or Molecular Biotechnology offers students the opportunity to target current issues of their own choosing in molecular biosciences and biochemistry.

Requirements

Entry Requirements

Applying with international qualifications (language requirements, application deadlines): International Admission. Requirements for admission to the Masters Degree programme consist of a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomolecular Engineering or an equivalent degree with a major focus in the field of chemistry, biotechnology and molecular biology. Admission to the Masters Degree programme may also depend on additional requirements. Specific degree entrance requirements may be found here and in the competences description.

English Program Requirements

You must pass the “Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang” (DSH-2) as evidence that your spoken and written command of the German language is adequate for Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes for which the language of instruction is German.

Participating in the DSH at the Studienkolleg is subject to charge.

Career

Graduates from Molecular Biotechnology typically go on to research careers in the chemical industry or at a university. For this reason it makes sense for holders of Bachelors degrees to go to do a Masters degree. The Master of Science in Biomolecular Engineering is designed to train bioengineers and molecular biotechnologists who can successfully meet various challenges in their future careers. Graduates may take up careers in industry, for example, or in research institutes (e.g. research, development and production in the pharmaceutical or biotechnological industry, or in the food industry), or engage in research as part of a doctoral program. Students of Biomolecular Engineering will acquire a broad foundation in the natural sciences in the initial semesters and be confronted with various interdisciplinary issues.
