    Biomolecular Engineering

    About

Biomolecular Engineering is an interdisciplinary field of science. It has assumed a central role in the field of molecular biosciences as it transfers theoretical knowledge of chemical and biological processes into practice using engineering principles. In this context, new chemical methods, techniques, and syntheses are developed in order to study biological processes in molecular detail. Furthermore, molecular-biological procedures are implemented in order to design biomolecules and to change biological systems selectively.

    Requirements

    Entry Requirements

Applying with international qualifications (language requirements, application deadlines): International Admission.

    English Requirements

    • PTEMin 64
    • IELTSMin 6,5

    English Program Requirements

You must pass the “Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang” (DSH-2) as evidence that your spoken and written command of the German language is adequate for Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes for which the language of instruction is German.

Participating in the DSH at the Studienkolleg is subject to charge.

    Career

Graduates of the Bachelor of Science programme Biomolecular Engineering have a number of opportunities on the labor market. They can find employment particularly in the field of chemistry (e.g. in the laundry detergent industry; production of special chemicals), in the pharmaceutical industry, and in the field of bioengineering (e.g. in the development and production of alternative fuels or dietary supplements). Due to their broad-based, fundamental, and research-oriented training, they may also be in demand in unrelated occupational fields such as internet and telecommunication, financial and insurance services, or consulting. Apart from subject-specific Masters degree programmes (e.g. M.Sc. Biomolecular Engineering or M.Sc. Chemistry), it may be appropriate to complete a graduate programme or do further training in the respective fields. TU Darmstadt Career Services
