About your course
The BSc (Hons) Adult Nursing Apprenticeship supports the learner to achieve a degree whilst remaining in employment. It will provide an NMC approved, quality programme which will prepare you for the complex and demanding, but extremely rewarding arena of adult nursing.
Adult nurses care for adults of all ages in both acute and long-term care. On the BSc (Hons) Nursing (Adult) apprenticeship degree, you will gain the skills, experience and confidence to be an effective healthcare professional whilst you are in employment.
The programme is delivered over 37 months and is full time. It consists of two days a week theory delivery with six, week long blocks of theory per year. You will learn in your place of work and have some additional weeks each year in alternative placements where you will be supervised and assessed with supernumerary status. This range of experience will give you vital skills in assessing, planning, delivering and evaluating patient care and needs.
In each academic year students will undertake five theoretical assessments: one for each theoretical module, and one practice module. You will be assessed utilising a variety of authentic assessment methods such as presentations, essays, professional conversations, exams and be assessed in clinical practice. This will enable you to achieve across a range of assessment styles. You will have access to a variety of digital resources to support your learning and wider experience.
On successful completion of the programme, you will obtain an Honours Degree and will be able to register with the NMC as an Adult Nurse.
This apprenticeship programme is aligned and mapped against the Institute of Apprenticeships and Technical Education (IFATE) Registered Nurse Degree standard ST0781 (IFATE, 2018) and is approved by the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
