    Course overview

    Chemical Engineering MEng Honours is a four-year degree. It focuses on developing your knowledge and skills across many chemical engineering topics. Its aim is to provide a direct route to becoming a Chartered Chemical Engineer (CEng). This is one of the industry's most recognisable international qualifications.

    You'll deepen your knowledge in more advanced topics during your fourth year. You'll specialise in a field that interests you. This enables you to graduate in your chosen specialism tailored to your career of choice. Specialisms include:

    • bioprocess engineering
    • process control
    • sustainable engineering

    The fourth-year also allows you to apply knowledge to an advanced design project.

    We work with industry so your studies reflect the real-world challenges engineers face. You'll have hands-on practical learning and optional industry placements. These give you the opportunity to put your theory into practice. You'll and gain invaluable experience in the sector.

    BEng or MEng?

    Both our BEng degree and specialist MEng degrees provide a pathway to becoming a Chartered Engineer. This is one of the most recognisable international engineering qualifications.

    Our MEng degrees are a direct route to becoming a Chartered Engineer (CEng). You don’t need to study any more qualifications after your degree to work towards chartered status.

    Our three-year BEng degree can also lead to Chartered Engineer status. However, you’ll need to complete further study, such as an approved master’s degree.

    Requirements

    Entry Requirements

    Typically we recognise the following in a Bachelors degree:

    • 3.5/4.0 or 4.25/5.0 (85%) as comparable to a 1st Class
    • Minimum GPA of 3.75/5.0 (75%) as comparable to a 2.1
    • 3.5/5.0 or 2.8/4.0 (70%) as comparable to a 2.2

    Admissions criteria may vary depending on the course you are applying for, please check course specific entry requirements.

    English Program Requirements

    IELTS:

    Applicants whose first language is not English require a minimum score of IELTS 6.0 or equivalent including 5.5 in each of the four elements of the test.

    TOEFL:

    79 overall (with a minimum of 17 in listening, 18 in reading, 20 in speaking, and 17 in writing)

    Pearson:

    Pearsons 65 overall (with a minimum of 59 in all sub-skills).

    Duolingo:

    115 overall with no subskill below 100
