    About

    Did you acquire in-depth practical engineering expertise in the Bachelors program? Would you like to specialize, work independently or assume a management or leadership position in a larger company or in your own construction company? The four-semester Masters program in civil engineering will prepare you for the complex demands of challenging construction, planning and infrastructure projects. With its eight program concentrations you can expand your expertise in many areas of civil engineering. The Masters program promotes independent work and teaches methods of scientific problem solving. You learn to develop, plan and realize technical projects as a whole and with a view to economical, ecological and legal aspects.

    Entry Requirements

    1. An Initial Qualifying University Degree

    The most important requirement for applying to Master's studies is an initial qualifying university degree. Individuals who have never completed university studies before cannot begin with Master's studies. Furthermore, most of the Master courses of study at RWTH Aachen are consecutive. This means that the Bachelor degree provides the subject background and preparation for the Master. Thus, it is not possible to have completed a Bachelor in philosophy but then pursue a Master is mechanical engineering.

    2. Complete Application On Time

    An important prerequisite for a successful application is that all application documents are completed and submitted by the deadline. You can refer to the webpages about the application process to find out what documents you need to apply.

    English Program Requirements

    Proof of Language Skills

    RWTH Aachen currently offers Master courses of study in German and English. You can find overview of langugae proficiency tests that are accepted by RWTH Aachen at our web page about Language Requirements.

    Exempt from having to provide evidence for English language skills are all individuals who have completed an educational qualification in the UK, Ireland, USA, Canada, New Zealand, or Australia.

    Participation in an English-language academic program in one of the countries listed above does not substitute the language test. Certificates and test results from other tests are not accepted either.

    • Proof of academic achievements to date - for RWTH students, an excerpt of the RWTHonline transcript of records is sufficient.

    • Letter of admission for studies at RWTH Aachen University if you are from abroad and are not yet enrolled at RWTH at the time of application.
