About

This module is suitable for professionals who are looking to extend their knowledge and understanding of child and family development within the context of relationships and society.

This module offers a stimulating environment, whereas a professional you can share your experience and enhance your knowledge and skills by critically evaluating theory and practice, and applying this to working with children and families within different contexts.

Critically analyse family theory and multiple factors that affect the health and social wellbeing of the individual, family and groups.
Appraise stages of human development across the lifespan relevant to their defined area of practice.
Examine and formulate ways to enable the individual, family and groups to develop abilities and use resources to manage and improve their health and social wellbeing.

Critically appraise tools and methods for assessing health and social needs of individuals and families.
Evaluate planned interventions or strategies for the individual, family or group.

Learning Methods

This module is delivered online through the University's Virtual Learning Environment, CampusMoodle, with methods including virtual live classroom and discussion forums. You will engage with directed and self-directed learning activities supported by the module team.

Independent Study

You are expected to undertake approximately 15 hours a week independent study.
