Course plan for a M.A Degree Visual Arts

​Program Overview

Master's degree in Visual Arts, offered by the Department of Visual Arts, consists of 33 credit hours. This plan adheres to the general framework regulations for graduate programs at the University of Jordan. Eligible undergraduate degrees for this program, ranked by priority, include bachelor's degrees in any field of visual arts, fine arts, design, and applied arts.

The vision of the Department of Visual Arts, within the Faculty of Arts and Design, is to be a leader locally, regionally, and globally in preparing a generation of distinguished artists across various fields. The department strives to foster and nurture authentic creative formation by applying the latest standards of comprehensive quality systems and by utilizing the most modern scientific and technological tools in the teaching and learning process.

The Department of Visual Arts is committed to establishing the notion that art is the "mirror of civilization" and that creativity reflects the refined philosophy of the artist. This mission supports society by graduating creative individuals in various fields who possess objective knowledge and modern, applied technical skills, enabling them to compete efficiently in the labor market. The department provides a conducive environment where students receive comprehensive knowledge that respects heritage, keeps pace with modern developments, and encourages originality in thought, concept, and product through curricula that promote scientific research.

Program Objectives

• To expand scientific research in both Arab and Western visual arts.
• To broaden the local community's understanding of the importance of art and education.
• To enhance the artistic awareness and understanding of students and researchers.
• To provide the local and Arab communities with qualified educational and artistic professionals.
  

1. ​Working in graphic design, advertising design, animation, website design, and various digital media.
   
2. Teaching at universities, colleges, and art schools in visual arts or design, or supervising art education programs.
3. Organizing art exhibitions and overseeing the curation of artistic content in museums, art galleries, and cultural institutions.
4. Managing and organizing art and cultural projects, including exhibitions, festivals, and artistic events.
5. Working as a professional photographer in artistic, commercial, or cinematic photography, or producing artistic videos and advertisements.
6. Developing artistic works using modern technologies such as virtual reality and augmented reality, and designing interactive experiences for audiences.
7. Working as an art critic or writer specializing in the field of arts, whether in traditional or digital journalism, or in art magazines and websites.
8. Working in the restoration and preservation of old or heritage artworks in museums and cultural institutions.
9. Managing art studios and overseeing the production of various artistic works, whether commercial or personal.
10. Executing public art projects in open spaces, or participating in community art projects aimed at impacting society and improving public spaces.
11. Working in art marketing or managing cultural and artistic institutions such as galleries, museums, and nonprofit organizations.
