    About

    The Certificate in Cybersecurity Technologies program is designed for students preparing for careers in computer and network security technologies, and to deal with the challenging computer and network security problems facing society. Students take four graduate courses and may apply credits earned in the certificate program toward a graduate degree.

    The Cybersecurity Management certificate program is designed for students seeking knowledge that will prepare them for careers in the management of cybersecurity and information security. Students will learn to oversee and manage information security; security awareness; training, policy, and procedures; and allocating strategic sources such as personnel, infrastructure, requirements, policy enforcement, emergency planning, and other resources.

    The certificate program requires completion of four graduate courses in topics such as cybersecurity technologies, information system security management, vulnerability analysis and control, and incident response disaster recovery. Students may apply credits earned in the certificate program toward a graduate degree.

    Requirements

    Entry Requirements

    Applicants should have a bachelors degree from an accredited college or university, but the degree does not need to be in an information technology or a computer-related field. Prerequisites may be required for some courses in the certificate program, but the prerequisites will not be applied toward the certificate.

    English Program Requirements

    International students who fit into any of the following categories will be considered to have met the requirement:

    • Residents of a country where English is the only official language and who is a native English speaker
    • Graduates of U.S. high schools
    • Completed the equivalent of Iowa State’s English 150 or 250 with a grade of B or better at an accredited U.S. 2 year or 4 year college or university.

    CONDITIONAL ADMISSION

    If you meet all admission requirements but do not meet our English proficiency requirements, Iowa State offers conditional admission to attend our Intensive English and Orientation Program (IEOP). If you would like to enroll in IEOP, on the application choose "I would like to enroll in Iowa State’s IEOP program before I begin the academic study.”
