The skills that students learn in the early childhood period are absolutely critical for their later success in elementary school. As an early elementary teacher, you'll be a pivotal piece in getting students to maximize their abilities. In our Elementary Elementary Education program, or EEE, you'll get comprehensive instruction so you feel prepared to lead your own classroom: cognitive, social and emotional development of young children, language and literacy development of children from birth through age 9, teaching methods in the key content areas, how to address students with special needs, as well as strategies for English Language Learners (ELLs).
Starting early on in EEE, you'll start accumulating field experience, and you'll cap off your final semester with student teaching. By graduation, you'll have planned and taught lessons, practiced classroom management, and made long-lasting connections to potential employer. And you'll be prepared for licensure in prekindergarten through grade 4. If you have a passion for working with young children, this is where you need to be.
