Breaking down this degree

This course leads to two separate degrees. Depending on your specialisation, you’ll graduate with a Bachelor of Arts and either the:

• Bachelor of Education (Honours) in Primary Education
• Bachelor of Education (Honours) in Secondary Education

Specialise in primary education and you’ll be able to teach across the school curriculum, with particular expertise in one or two fields. Specialise in secondary education and you’ll qualify as a subject specialist teacher in two secondary areas.

What you’ll be learning

This degree paves the way to some fascinating areas of study across the arts, humanities and social sciences.

With all kinds of majors and minors to choose from, you could delve into history, politics, music, human rights, linguistics, economics or any other area you’re especially interested in.

About registration and accreditation

Here’s what you need to know:

• All primary and secondary education specialisations are accredited by the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) using national accreditation standards.
• This means your qualification will be accepted in Victoria and all other Australian states and territories.

At the time of enrolment in a course at Monash University, you must be at least 17 years of age.

All Monash undergraduate courses require you to have successfully completed a minimum of an Australian Year 12 qualification (or equivalent) and achieve the required academic entry score. Most Monash faculties generally use your most recent studies for admission however other guidelines may apply where your prior qualification may be considered.
