There is an integrated period abroad.

You can check in the anabin database whether your foreign educational qualification is recognised in Germany.

    English Program Requirements

In order to be admitted to the programme, applicants must have passed the first State Examination in law or have obtained a law degree from a European Union or EEA state after a standard period of study of at least four years. An applicant may also be admitted if they have obtained an equivalent law degree from another foreign law faculty after a standard period of study of at least four years, provided they submit reasoned expert opinions from two university lecturers entitled to teach independently at that faculty, which show that the applicants final grade is among the best 30% of the graduates of the same examination year and that they are completely suitable for studying in accordance with the study regulations. The examination board decides on the equivalence of such a law degree. An applicant may also be admitted if they have obtained a law degree from a higher education institution in Germany or abroad after a standard period of study of at least three years, provided they submit reasoned expert opinions from two university lecturers entitled to teach independently at that faculty, which show that the applicants final grade is among the best 30% of the graduates of the same examination year and that they are completely suitable for studying in accordance with the study regulations, and if they have passed an aptitude test administered by the Faculty of Law. Details are set forth in the aptitude test regulations for this masters programme. Anyone who has successfully passed an equivalent examination of a law faculty within the area in which the German Basic Law applies is exempt from the aptitude test. The examination board decides on the equivalence of such an examination. Language skills which are necessary to successfully complete the period of study abroad are not an admission requirement. This does not affect language skills required by the university at which the period of study abroad is completed. This also applies to completing the period of study abroad at Leipzig University.
