Extended Reality MSc

About

Push the limits of technology with our Extended Reality Master’s degree.

On this course, you’ll tackle a custom project that looks to develop and explore XR technology. You’ll have the opportunity to collaborate with experts and utilise diverse facilities and modules, allowing you to integrate various technological and design resources to bring your vision to life.

Your project is uniquely yours. You’ll learn to lead and manage a complex technological project, think critically, and build skills that will help you drive technological advancements throughout your career.

This qualification is an option on our Creative Technologies Master's course. You'll select MSc Creative Technologies when you apply, then choose Extended Reality as your pathway project after you start the course. You'll graduate with MSc Extended Reality.

Eligibility

This course accepts UK, EU, and International students.

September 2026 start

A second-class honours degree, or equivalent, in a relevant subject or a master's degree in an appropriate subject.

Exceptionally, equivalent professional experience and/or qualifications will be considered, such as previous study, employment, voluntary work and training courses, including courses and qualifications you didn't complete. Learn more about our Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).

If you're applying as an international student with a non-UK degree, you’ll need to show you meet the UK entry requirements listed above.

English language proficiency at a minimum of IELTS band 6.5 with no component score below 5.5.

You do not need an IELTS or equivalent certification if:

you have a UK degree
you have a degree from a majority English-speaking country (not taught by Distance Learning)
you are a national of a majority English-speaking country

An online portfolio submission may be required as part of the selection process.
