    Bachelor of Finance / Program Overview

    Background to the program and subject area:
    Finance students at the undergraduate level are required to successfully complete 132 credit hours to earn their bachelor degree in Finance. In addition to Principles of Managerial Finance, students are required to take a variety of courses in the field including Financial Analysis, Investment Management, Portfolio Management, Banking Management, Advanced Banking Management, Financial Markets, Financial Institutions, Research Methods in Finance, Contemporary Issues in Finance, Islamic Banking, Derivatives, and others.
    Vision statements of the program:
    Vision: The Finance Department seeks to offer education that broadens students' horizons and prepares them to become accomplished citizens and professionals capable of critical thinking and independent analysis.
    Mission statements of the program:
    Mission: The primary mission of the Finance Department is to provide high quality preparation for professional careers in banking and finance. The program is devoted to providing basic finance knowledge and skills, along with general education, needed to serve the Department's main mission.
    Program Aims:
    1. To enable students to understand the basic concepts of finance.
    2. To enable students apply the tools and techniques in an objective manner.
    3. To participate effectively in discussion and professional meetings.
    4. To encourage students to play leading roles in the professions they choose to pursue.
     

    Bachelor of Finance / Program Intended Learning Outcomes

    At the successful completion of the Bachelor Program in Finance the student should be able to:
    1- Discuss financial role in business organizations and society, and explain the main foundations in the primary areas of finance discipline from both a local and global perspectives.
    2- Utilize valid financial theories to research and analyze contemporary issues.
    3- Apply a range of mastered skills including; principles of scientific research in finance, risk and return concepts.
    4- Utilize critical thinking and problem solving to analyze and manage investment portfolios.
    5- Identify ethical issues in finance context and critically discuss ethical reasoning to financial and business circumstances.
    6- Adapt appropriate technologies and financial techniques to collect and analyze financial information to conclude appropriate solutions for financial problems.
    7- Develop oral and written communication skills using appropriate technologies to elaborate financial information and financial reports.
    8- Work within teams across different financial and management levels inside and outside the organization.

    Requirements

    Entry Requirements

    Students with a high school diploma or its equivalent from outside Jordan can enroll in higher education institutions directly through websites of public and private universities or intermediate community colleges based on their averages. Universities implement the credit hours system, which allows students to choose courses according to their study plan.

    Students wishing to enroll in a master's program must hold a bachelor's degree. Furthermore, students who wish to enroll in doctoral programs must hold a master's degree.

    In addition, students wishing to enroll in postgraduate programs are required to provide a certificate confirming their English proficiency level in a TOEFL or IELTS exam. They could also demonstrate a certain proficiency level in French or German. Lastly, they could take an English language exam held by the higher education institution they apply in.

    In the event that the student fails to prove the required level of English, German or French, or fails the English equivalency exam, they may study a qualifying program in English at the university where they undertake additional six credit hours; he/she must score a minimum grade that varies according to their specialization.
