    About

    Develop your understanding of the business and the depth of social impact that football has. This football player development pathway links real-life practice to academic theory.

    This degree programme runs in partnership with Macclesfield FC. You'll have the flexibility to build your studies around your favourite parts of football. You'll also be able to develop your own skill set to work within the industry.

    You'll have the opportunity to study a broad range of specialist modules. These explore issues such as; coaching, business, management, media, and player development. The modules get taught by staff who have practical experience of working at the highest level within the football industry. We can also support you with a range of professional placements and networking opportunities. These include the likes of Everton FC, Preston North End, Blackpool FC and Burnley FC. Alongside your academic studies, we have a dedicated coaching team composed of:

    • James Coulebeck (Macclesfield FC)
    • Jade Richards (Blackburn Rovers LFC and UCLan Head Coach)
    • Macclesfield FCs coaching staff

    This allows us to combine academic excellence with professional club relevance. This course will help you improve your ability, fitness, and knowledge as a footballer. Youll be able to hone skill this further by playing 30 games per season for the University. There are also opportunities to progress through to U21, U23, Reserve and first team levels of football. There are also coaching opportunities and funding options and support for:

    • FA Level 1
    • FA Level 2
    • UEFA B Licensed coaching football courses
    • You'll have the opportunity to develop yourself as a player in partnership with a professional club.
    • Learn in a true football focussed environment. This includes individual development and improvement plans based on professional coaching.
    • Develop your skillset with expertise and experience of Macclesfield F.C. and the university.

    Excellence Scholarship

    • 2 or 3 year Diploma/Associate Degree from a recognised Community College with a score of: 94% or GPA 4.

    Advanced entry:

    • 84% / B+ / Excellent / GPA 3.64/4.
