    About

The Graduate Apprenticeship course gives employers the opportunity to recruit new talent and support them through the Apprenticeship or to upskill current employees.

The purpose of the BSc (Hons) Construction and the Built Environment (Quantity Surveying) Graduate Apprenticeship course is to produce graduates with the relevant skills and knowledge to work in the highly diverse and challenging building and civil engineering sectors in the UK and overseas.

The Apprenticeship equips apprentices with the theory and practical skills to be able to manage all costs relating to building and civil engineering projects from the initial calculations to the final accounts. It is developed in partnership with industry so you will be up to date with the latest technologies in the field. As an apprentice, you will develop technical, legal, analytical and evaluation skills in contractual frameworks, costing a project and enhancing value for money, while still achieving the required client expectations, standards, and quality. Glasgow Caledonian University's common good values and principles are embedded in the Apprenticeship, which aims to produce graduates with a broad awareness of the various legal, ethical and professional responsibilities of a quantity surveyor.

A Graduate Apprenticeship is the perfect opportunity for you to develop your skills and experience and progress to the role of a RICS Chartered Surveyor with your current employer, whilst you continue to gain experience in-role. According to the RICS Macdonald & Company Rewards and Attitudes Survey 2019, the average salary for a quantity surveyor is آ£48,000. Their updated report for 2020-21 found that RICS qualified professionals receive an average base salary that is 39% higher than non-qualified professionals.

All Apprenticeships are fully-funded by the Scottish Funding Council. Applicants will also need to complete a SAAS Graduate Apprenticeship application form. The course team will review the skills, knowledge, academic qualifications and experience of all applicants, which will all be used to inform the level of the apprenticeship candidates will begin their education.
