    The demand for renewable power engineers is growing rapidly as Queensland forecasts 100,000 new jobs in renewable engineering to hit the state's target of 80 percent renewables by 2035.

    Now is the time to upskill your engineering qualifications to be part of the dynamic energy transformation. Industries are urgently seeking engineers with specialised skills in designing, operating and maintaining renewable energy systems.

    This course has been developed in close collaboration with industry to ensure you are equipped with the specialised skillsets employers are looking for. You will be taught by international experts with direct industry experience in renewable energy system operation, maintenance and optimisation.

    Our expert team will guide you through the skills required to manage and maintain renewable energy systems, the knowledge to determine which technologies to utilise, and how to mitigate the impacts of extreme weather and climate, while balancing community needs and local policy decisions.

    Throughout your course, you will build up your knowledge in photovoltaic systems, hydro-electric power generation systems, and wind power plants. You will gain expertise in energy storage systems, distributed generation systems as well as alternative renewable energy technology solutions for power generation.

    You must have:

    • A recognised four-year full-time (or equivalent) bachelor degree in engineering disciplines of chemical, electrical, mechanical, medical, or power and equivalents plus followed by at least three-years full-time (or equivalent) professional work experience in energy systems; or
    • A recognised three-year full-time (or equivalent) bachelor degree in the engineering disciplines chemical, electrical, mechanical, medical, or power and equivalents plus followed by at least five-years full-time (or equivalent) professional work experience in energy systems.

    Minimum English language requirements

    We accept English language proficiency scores from the following tests undertaken in a secure test centre. Tests must be taken no more than 2 years prior to the QUT course commencement.
