The Graduate Diploma in Energy and Resources Law (GDipEnergy&ResourcesLaw) is part of the world-renowned Melbourne Law Masters program. Entry Requirements

Admission criteria

To be considered for entry into this course, you must have completed:

A degree in law (LLB, JD or equivalent) with a University of Melbourne equivalent score of at least 70 leading to admission to legal practice, OR
A degree in law (LLB, JD or equivalent) leading to admission to legal practice and at least one year of documented, relevant professional experience, OR
An undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline and at least one year of documented, relevant professional work experience.

Professional experience relevant to this course includes legal roles or roles in government.

Where our admission criteria includes a minimum Weighted Average Mark (WAM) and/or specific subject criteria, these are based on University of Melbourne grades and subjects. If you've studied elsewhere, we'll assess your relevant prior studies and equivalent grades. Your final WAM may be adjusted depending on your previous institution's accreditation, subject grading, and pass marks.

Career

As a student in the Graduate Diploma in Energy and Resources Law, you’ll develop an advanced understanding of the complex body of knowledge in the field of energy and resources law, including:

An in-depth knowledge of the specialist area of energy and resources law and associated disciplinary areas
Detailed knowledge of the complex law and regulation in the field
The capacity to identify new laws and/or apply existing law in the rapidly evolving legal context for energy and resources
Advanced understanding of developments in international energy and resources law

You’ll also develop skills in critical analysis and the ability to interpret and transmit your ideas to specialist and non-specialist audiences, including clients.
