    International Development Practice

    About

Ever wondered how to combat global poverty and environmental crises? If you want a better understanding of the world’s challenges and how to contribute to its improvement, this course is for you. You’ll learn how to analyse situations, create innovative ideas and transform them into practice on an international scale.

You will explore the complex political, economic, cultural and ecological challenges that contribute to extreme poverty, reduced health, environmental vulnerability and fragile governance affecting the well-being of millions of people worldwide. Our multi-faceted approach to learning will see you develop strong critical thinking and analytical skills to debate innovative solutions to these real-world situations. You’ll engage with leading academics to apply developed reasoning to a variety of situations, graduating as an independent critical thinker with a career-ready skillset.

By the end of the course, you’ll have in-depth knowledge of best practice within both the broad realm of international development, and of organisations working in the field including their funding processes. You will be able to discuss the challenges of international development practice, develop your own research skills, and be able to apply this understanding to problem-solving in the field. Working within an international discipline relies on intercultural knowledge and understanding, so you’ll also develop skills in managing multicultural teams and leading in a variety of environments.

The Graduate Certificate of International Development Practice will give you the foundation understanding of sustainable development, and the skills to manage and lead projects in conflict and intercultural environments.

This could be your stepping stone to diverse careers in the field within six months full-time (one year part-time) or you could continue to develop through the Master of International Development Practice.
