About

Develop as a leader with skill and creativity

Everything you care about needs to be managed. This program is designed to be flexible, open to your creative and varied interests, but built on a foundation of key management concepts like leadership, marketing, organizational behavior, and innovation. We want you to have the freedom to find careers in business environments, government, social enterprises, or non-profit sectors, working on things that excite you. This is a program for students who want a business degree, but itâ€™s also a program for students who know that they want to run an art gallery, write creative environment policy, manage a community theatre, or work in a library system.

Youâ€™ll start with a business & management foundation learning how to organize and lead organizations to respond to internal and external pressures.

Once you've completed your foundation, you can focus on a particular aspect of Management through majors or certificates like Entrepreneurship, Leadership and Organizations, Managing Data and Information, Public Sector Management, Marketing, or Environment, Sustainability and Society.

But we need managers in all kinds of different fields, so this program has unparalleled space and flexibility to draw on the breadth of other subjects at Dalhousie. You can choose from literally hundreds of minors and certificates from across the university: intercultural communication, Indigenous studies, biology, environment and sustainability, ocean sciences, theatre, journalism, and so many more.

To help you explore your options, you can choose to complete an 8- or 12-month paid internship where youâ€™ll gain experience and skills while building your network and establishing a deep connection with your employer - all while earning academic credit so you can graduate on schedule.

You'll be sought by employers across a variety of sectors as our global economy is creating a strong demand for managers at all levels who can do more than just manage. Recent Dalhousie graduates have moved into careers as managers, educators, and coordinators in fields like sports, entertainment, research, automotive, food and beverage, and consumer health. Careers in the management field include:

business owner/entrepreneur
government policy analyst
director of a not-for-profit organization
sustainability research coordinator
business analyst

Or you can continue your studies with Masters degrees in areas like managing resources and the environment; information; or public administration.

How to Apply

Step 1: Choose your program

Dalhousie offers a wide range of programs to build an educational experience that is tailored to you. You can apply for up to three programs. You'll only be assessed for your second and third choices if you're not admitted to your first choice.

If you’re applying to the Faculty of Agriculture, please note all programs are located at the Agricultural campus in Truro, N.S.

Please note: Some undergraduate programs require previous university experience (Dental Hygiene, Environmental Design Studies, Meteorology, Pharmacy and Social Work).

Step 2: Review the requirements

Once you’ve selected your program:

Review the general admission requirements.
Check if your program has additional requirements.
If you’re applying from outside of Canada, make sure you meet the international equivalency requirements for your country.
If English isn’t your first language, check the English language requirements.

Step 3: Complete an application for admission

Three years of secondary schooling is generally required to review for admission. For an initial assessment, first-semester or mid-year results (predicted where applicable) can be reviewed if your final year is still in progress.

To start the application process, create an admission login ID and pin on Dal Online. Select your application type (see below) and your desired admission term.

October 15	Applications open for admission the following September
March 1	For entrance scholarship consideration
April 1	International applicant deadline

Step 4: Pay the application fee

To complete your application to undergraduate studies, you'll need to pay the $70 CAD application fee.

Please be advised that fee payments must be made online. Dalhousie is unable to receive in-person payments until further notice.

Step 5: Submit your required documents

Each applicant must submit an official transcript, however your program may require supplemental forms and documentation.

Official transcripts must be sent directly from the issuing institution. Canadian and US applicants can submit transcripts to admissions@dal.ca and international applicants can submit transcripts to international.admissions@dal.ca.

If you are mailing your transcripts, please note that there may be a delay in processing your application. As our staff are working remotely, we are only able to access the mail once per week.

Your transcripts must be in an original sealed envelope addressed to:

Please note: If you send first-semester or mid-year transcripts, you must also submit final results when they are issued.
