Course overview
Develop expertise in biodiversity restoration and ecological carbon sequestration, gaining the scientific and practical skills to provide nature-based strategies for long-term ecosystem sustainability.
You will gain advanced training in biodiversity and carbon cycles through hands-on fieldwork, cutting-edge data science, and applied research – preparing you to design and implement nature-based solutions.
Experience the rich biodiversity of Brazil's Atlantic Forest, one of the world’s most threatened biodiversity hotspots, while gaining practical training in ecosystem restoration during a field trip with ARAÇÁ (Atlantic Forest Research And Conservation Alliance) to one of its last tracts of primary forest.
The course will prepare you for a high-impact career with practical training and policy insight to drive nature-based solutions in conservation, climate strategy, and sustainable land use.
Your journey will start with immersive fieldwork and data science training in ecology and conservation, based at our outdoor laboratory, Silwood Park Campus.
You will build in-depth expertise in biodiversity, ecological carbon, and environmental policy – enriched by insights from industry and research partners. You'll finish by designing and conducting your own independent research project, putting your skills into real-world practice.
