Overview
The ever-complex nature of business environment makes it necessary for people with diverse backgrounds to be unified around the same organizational goal. Hence, there is a need for individuals who can understand all the functions in a business and take responsibility in various departments or as a manager. The main purpose of this program is to equip students coming from various disciplines with the methods, techniques and academic knowledge that help to cover businesses with this holistic approach.
Graduate programs in Management within the Graduate School of Arts and Social Sciences exist for more than thirty years. The master program admits students who are expected to learn and do research in various fields of business management such as sales and marketing, accounting and finance, management and organization, production, project management, quantitative tools, technology and law.
While the program without thesis mostly targets people who seek professional career, the program with thesis is more suitable to people who would like to handle business problems with an academic perspective and do research.
Goal
The main goal of the program is to endow students with theoretical and applied knowledge about the major disciplines of business management. Hence, students with different academic backgrounds (such as engineering, economics or social sciences) will acquire managerial skills that help them assume responsibility during planning, organization, management and controlling or create their own business.

Graduates have the opportunity to work in many different fields. The program has a structure that emphasizes entrepreneurship and top management regardless of any area. In addition, the program with thesis is designed for those who seek academic career or researcher positions.
Target Audience
The master program is open to all applicants with an undergraduate degree except the graduates of ITU Management Engineering and ITU Industrial Engineering departments.
Program Outcomes
Developing and enhancing the knowledge related to management concepts, research methods, and applications, based upon the competency in undergraduate level (ITU i).
Interpreting the knowledge gained from management field via combining the knowledge from other disciplines, comprehending the interdisciplinary interactions, conducting interdisciplinary research, and creating new types of knowledge (ITU ii, iv, xvi).
Detecting complex problems in certain areas within the field, collecting and analyzing data in order to fix these problems, developing strategic approaches and solutions by using research methods and conceptual knowledge, which are unique to the field (ITU iii, v, vii, x, xv).
Participating in team work, and fulfilling the leader role when it is necessary, using information technologies and presenting the findings in Turkish or in English in oral, visual and written forms (ITU viii, x, xii, xiii).
Interpreting the specialized knowledge and skills gained from the Management field critically, and conducting independent research that may contribute to the existing knowledge and applications (ITU vi, ix).
Understanding the relationships and interactions among people, organizations and societies, internalizing the ethical values, contributing to the society through emphasizing both the technological and social developments in the field, and the sustainability constraint (ITU xi, xiv).
(For the program with thesis) To communicate the current developments in Management and one’s own work orally, visually and in written forms, by supporting them with quantitative and qualitative data and to present them to other groups in and out of the field in international arenas with competence, at least, in one foreign language and required computer program (ITU xvii).
