A large proportion of our academic staff began their training as professional accountants, lawyers, project managers, human resource managers and economists. What will I study?

You'll cover the basics of a range of core managements skills and disciplines. The breadth of areas studied will give you highly transferable skills, relevant to most work environments, which will enable you to become an effective employee or a future entrepreneur.

You'll benefit from an integrated teaching approach where theory is combined with practice across the modules. This is reflected in the assessment methods which include:

The course also places a great emphasis on the development of sound research practices and training to enable you to develop the essential skills needed to succeed in an increasingly global world and knowledge economy.

You'll have the opportunity to undertake an Integrated Research Project with the support of a range of staff. You'll be offered subject specialist help as you begin the process, enabling you to select an appropriate and viable research area. You'll also be allocated an individual supervisor who will guide you through the process with a series of one-to-one and small group meetings – leading you forward to the end of the process.    

About the course

The MSc Management is designed to provide you with a multidisciplinary approach to management. Upon graduation, you'll be equipped with the personal and professional skills needed to be competent and successful managers in modern businesses.

You'll develop a strong foundation of understanding of the role of management and its implementation across different industries. From developing an understanding of the role of management in the wider international economy, to the responsibilities of management to society, sustainability, and the planet, you'll explore management from a range of perspectives.

Business operations are becoming ever-more complex in today's global economy. The acquisition, storage, movement and the transportation of goods both to the organisation and to customers, requires managers with strong leadership and supply chain management skills. This course will prepare you with the skills and knowledge to boost efficiency and drive business forward no matter what industry.

So, whether you're a graduate looking for a broad management qualification, or a professional who is looking to progress into management through a formal qualification, the MSc Management will provide you with an exciting learning journey.

Completion of a four year bachelors degree with GPA 2.4 or above.

You'll work co-operatively on shared problems and develop your knowledge and understanding of specific subject areas in the preparation and analysis of your assessments. You'll become more creative and innovative, and learn to identify, analyse and manage business issues and problems to produce viable solutions and/or recommendations.

Our aim for the course is to prepare you for a career in business and management where knowledge of a range of disciplines and business functions are imperative. The range of professional, individual, and transferable skills necessary for a successful career in management form a key component of the course and its design.

The MSc Management offers students an academically rigorous experience, providing you with knowledge of a wide range of business functions essential for future career success. However, the course also has a strong practical orientation, demonstrated in the use of real-life case studies across your subjects which are each designed to develop your personal and management skills.
