    About

Our research-based MA programme with a pronounced emphasis on training in research methods is one of the strongest MA programmes in social and cultural anthropology in Germany. Colleagues in our department work on various regions, particularly the anthropology of the North/Arctic and post-socialist countries (J. Otto Habeck), the Middle East (Laila Prager), and Southern Africa and Latin America (Julia Pauli and Michael Schnegg). Prominent research topics are mobile pastoralism, climate change, perceptions of the environment, concepts and uses of indigeneity, diaspora studies, migration and social mobility, gender and kinship, movement and wayfaring, health, and religion.
