About the program and its main topics
The Master's program in Special Education was established with the establishment of the Department of Guidance and Special Education separately from the other departments in the College of Educational Sciences in 1985/1986. The program's study plan consists of 33 credit hours , the thesis track of which is divided into (18) hours of compulsory subjects, (6) hours of elective subjects, and (9) hours for the thesis. The study materials are distributed between compulsory and elective and its main topics are based on: psychological and educational assessment in special education, contemporary special education and behavior modification in special education, and vocational rehabilitation For individuals with disabilities as well as families of people with special needs, in addition to field training materials where the student spends time in schools and special education centers in addition to hospitals.

Providing educational, learning and training experiences that are compatible with the needs of the local and Arab community by providing the student with basic knowledge in the field of special education to be able to understand and interpret the psychological life of the human being and how behavior is formed and providing him with basic knowledge related to therapeutic methods and strategies and the necessary competencies to apply them in the field.

1. Preparing specialists in the field of special education to work in the field in a manner that meets the accreditation and quality standards issued by the Supreme Council for the Affairs of Persons with Disabilities The disabled.
2. Deep field specialization for graduates of special education and providing them with specialized skills.
3. Increasing scientific research and directing it through preparing university theses that should be directed to address fundamental field issues and problems in special education.

5. Contribute with universities, official and private institutions to raise the level of educational programs provided to students with special needs.
6. Implementing continuous training programs for special education service providers in Jordan and other Arab countries to develop their level of scientific competence and improve their practical skills.

Preparing the appropriate environment and conditions for faculty members in the department to enable them to implement solid scientific research, publish and distribute distinguished scientific publications, and hold conferences, seminars, and specialized scientific lectures in various fields of special education.
8. Encouraging distinguished humanitarian work with people with special needs and their families, committed to high standards of professional and ethical practice.
9. Educating, serving and empowering local communities, and establishing partnerships with relevant public and private community institutions to find solutions to problems in the field of special education and improve the quality of life for people with special needs and their families.
