Master of Research

The Graduate Certificate in Clinical Nursing is an innovative course designed for those who want to develop their knowledge, confidence, and nursing competence in the clinical setting. The course is a discipline-based degree with two core units covering Patient Deterioration and Clinical Governance, and two further units from your chosen major. Majors available include Generalist, or Gerontology.

You'll gain advanced nursing knowledge and skills based on contemporary national and international evidence relevant to the beginning registered nurse, and you'll apply these in your own clinical setting. The combination of online delivery with group discussions, the use of current international and national research, and review of standards of care in the clinical settings will enhance learning and development of key clinical skills required in professional practice. You will have the opportunity to enhance your professional nursing attributes including autonomy, accountability and critical reflection.

Our focus has been to emphasise research with relevance to the region, involving aspects of regional development, growth in resource industries, environmental management, issues associated with quality health care in rural and regional communities, and education delivery specifically through the use of modern technology.

An applicant may be considered for admission to candidature for the degree of Masters of Research if the person holds:

a) an honours degree from CQUniversity or any other approved institution in a relevant discipline

b) a three-year undergraduate degree and a graduate diploma at a high level of academic performance in a relevant discipline

c) a three-year undergraduate degree at a high level of academic performance in a relevant discipline, plus a minimum of one year's relevant work experience

d) a three-year or four-year undergraduate degree with a credit level Grade Point Average (GPA) preferably in a relevant discipline

e) completion of the CQUniversity Graduate Certificate in Research with an average of distinction level of achievement, or

f) alternative qualification/s and/or experience deemed by RHDC to be of equivalent scope and standard to those listed above.

If you don’t meet our English language entry requirements and need to improve your English language proficiency, you can do so through our approved English Language Instruction Course for Overseas Students (ELICOS) providers. This means that you can attend the required English language tuition at approved ELICOS providers and gain direct entry into university without an IELTS or TOEFL test.

This course provides Registered Nurses with a nursing-specific post-graduate qualification. As a graduate, you can enjoy a range of opportunities including:
