    This program builds upon your existing education or heath qualifications. The program blends theory, research, practice, reflection and innovation with an emphasis on applying best-practice evidence-based approaches to support the learning and development of people with disability and/or additional need.

    A Graduate Certificate in Special and Inclusive Support, Graduate Certificate in Early Childhood Disability Support and Graduate Certificate in Emotional and Behavioural Support in Education are also available to study and can be used as a pathway into the masters program.

    The Master of Special and Inclusive Education covers a range of general and specialised courses driven around your passion for supporting the learning outcome of students with a diverse range of abilities and disabilities. This program will have immeasurable value for those in the teaching and learning sector.

    Requirements

    Entry Requirements

    The Master of Special and Inclusive Education is an 80-unit postgraduate qualification, with admission available for applicants who have one of the following qualifications or equivalent in a relevant field:

    • Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma; or
    • Bachelor Honours Degree; or
    • Bachelor Degree plus two years' demonstrable relevant work experience; or
    • Diploma or Advanced Diploma plus five years' demonstrable relevant work experience.

    Relevant fields and applicable work experience includes education/teaching, psychology, disability studies, allied health or a related discipline.

    Work experience can be demonstrated through: certified copies of all relevant qualifications, a detailed CV, and a statement of service or signed letters from employers confirming your role, duties and period of employment.

    English Program Requirements

    Overall minimum: 6.5

    Sub test minimum: 6

    Career

    Upon completion, qualified educators will be equipped with skills and knowledge to assess student need, ability, and address identified learning difficulties or challenge-specific areas. Career pathways include inclusive or specialist support education settings, early childhood intervention services and disability support.

    For graduates with a prior degree in an allied health related field – you can be part of a brighter future in community and disability support services.

    Please note the program does not provide a pre-service teaching qualification.

    Education Administration, Leadership and Teaching roles include:

  • School-based executive positions – i.e. Assistant Principal Special Education, Deputy Principal Inclusion and Support.
