Mathematics and Accounting and Financial Management

    About

Our Mathematics and Accounting and Financial Management BSc (Hons) degree is equally divided between maths and accounting, providing the ideal platform for those who want to build a career in corporate finance.

Evenly divided between the two main subject areas, our Mathematics and Accounting and Financial Management BSc (Hons) degree draws upon the expertise of both the Department of Mathematical Sciences and the Universitys School of Business and Economics. The aim of this degree is to provide you with knowledgeable insights into mathematics, accounting and financial management in the context of "real world" business and commerce.

The course is designed for those who wish to gain knowledge of corporate finance, accounting and financial management as well as the powerful mathematical tools used in the financial and business sector. The problem-solving skills which are strongly developed in the mathematics section and the accounting skills that will also be acquired make graduates highly attractive to a wide range of employers.

Over the duration of the BSc Mathematics and Accounting and Financial Management degree you will combine training in the fundamentals of mathematics (such as mathematical methods, linear algebra, probability and statistics, and complex variables) with modules essential to your potential future career (financial accounting, law, markets, derivatives, macro- and microeconomics).

This course is accredited by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.

    Entry Requirements

Students taking the Tawjihi (General Secondary Education Certificate) will need to complete a suitable Foundation Year.

Loughborough University has its own Foundation Year for high-calibre international students who have successfully completed 12 years of school education. Alternatively, please contact the International Office to check if the Foundation Programme that you are considering taking is acceptable for entry to Loughborough courses.

Students with A Level or IB qualifications will be considered for direct entry to undergraduate degree courses. Please see the undergraduate prospectus for specific course requirements. Requirements for American SATs and APs can be found under the country requirements for USA.

Students must also achieve the University’s English language requirements.

    English Program Requirements

The standard University IELTS English language requirement is 6.5 overall with 6.0 in each individual element (reading, writing, listening and speaking). Some Schools/Departments may require higher levels of English language than those specified. The requirements needed, will be sent to you in your offer communication.

For Research Degrees, some Schools/Departments may ask for a higher standard of English language qualifications due to the nature of the research work involved. Details will be included in your offer letter if this applies.

For Undergraduate Degree courses, some Schools/Departments may require higher levels than those specified.  These higher levels are detailed, where relevant and more information can be found here.

English language tests should have been taken within the previous two years. Where a school-based qualification is used to meet the English language requirement, this should have been taken within the past ten years. Evidence of continuing use of English, whether in the workplace or elsewhere, in the intervening period may be considered as supporting evidence of English language ability where a qualification was taken more than ten years ago.

    How to Apply

    Register with UCAS

Before you can do anything, you will need to register with UCAS (the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service). This is the official application route for the majority of full-time undergraduate courses.

    The application consists of 6 sections, these include;

    • Section 1: Personal Details
    • Section 2: University Choices
    • Section 3: Formal Qualifications
    • Section 4: Employment History
