    About

    Learn and work in a real production environment – this Media Production course is developed in close collaboration with leading industry experts.

    The course:

    • includes a foundation year to prepare you for further study
    • focuses on exploring current and emerging technologies applicable to still and moving media production
    • engages students in the day-to-day operation of the production facility, extending student participation beyond the lecture theatre
    • centres around the use of the university's media and television studios where students explore media production for various markets and platforms, in addition to lighting and acquisition for visual effects work
    • is designed to teach and develop skills across disciplines and covers a broad range of technologies that will help in the development of your own portfolio.
    • will allow students to develop a theoretical and practical understanding across a range of skills in pre-production, production and post-production.

    Qualification Entry requirements
    For entry onto an Undergraduate programme, applicants require:

    Community college diploma with 65% minimum

    Or, holders of a a Tawjihi 65%+ average plus a recognised foundation programme

    Or, holders of the International Baccalaureate Diploma with 27 points or more will be considered for direct admission to Bachelor degree courses

    Career

    • Broadcasting - We have a range of successful broadcasters working for national companies in pre-production, production and post-production.
    • Video Production - Establishing their own or working for independent producers on a variety of projects for a wide range of clients.
    • Post-production - Video editing and compositing skills are developed throughout the degree and offer a strong foothold for VFX and other Post Production roles.
    • Photography - Image capture, both still and video is at the heart of the curriculum and students have gone on to produce a range of photographic work.
    • Production and Studio Management - Many opportunities exist for graduates to use their skills for project management and other client commissions.

    Application stage

    If you are an international student who requires a Student visa, your application should be made via Centurus. You will need to fill in your details, upload any documents relevant to your application and confirm your student declaration.

    If you are applying for a research degree, such as MPhil or PhD, you should click here.

    The documents that need to be uploaded are:

    • A scanned copy of your passport (including personal details page).
    • Certificates and transcripts showing your academic progression so far.
    • Certified translations of overseas certificates and transcripts where the document is not in English or Welsh.
    • An acceptable English language certificate.
    • Copy of Tuberculosis screening if you are a resident in any of the countries listed. More information about Tuberculosis screening can be found here.
    • 1 academic reference letter (further references might be required).
    • Evidence of finances to pay first year’s full tuition fee and to cover UKVI maintenance requirements.
    • Evidence of work experience (where relevant).

    If you have previously studied in the UK, you are also required to provide the extra documents listed below:

    • A scanned copy of the passport page showing entry clearance in to the UK and return overseas.
    • Copies of any UK visas you have previously held.
    • Copies of Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) documents / visa letters for all previous studies undertaken in the UK.
    • Copies of any visa / ATAS refusal letters (if applicable).
    • Copies of any visa / ATAS appeal or administrative review letters (if applicable).
    • Evidence of any removal / deportation / detention notices (if applicable).
