    About

Immunology as a key to better health−thats the motto for immune system research, its connections to other systems of the body such as the metabolic system and the nervous system, and its direct bearing on human health and various diseases. The Medical Immunosciences and Infection degree program deals with immunological topics from a medical perspective. The main goal of this research-oriented international degree program is to train students for future careers in medical research. In terms of its content, the program focuses on the underlying mechanisms and the treatment of immune-mediated, inflammatory, and infectious diseases. Students acquire specific knowledge in the areas of translational, immunological and infectiological research. Approaches currently followed in immunology and infection research are discussed in literature seminars and students apply them directly to their research projects. Students can set individual points of focus for themselves by the elective modules they choose. Upon completion of their masters degree, students are equipped with all the essential skills and abilities needed for independent academic work and a successful research career. Possible lines of work: Medical and biomedical basic research (e.g. at Max Planck Institutes), development/production/marketing (industrial sector), molecular diagnostics (for medical, biotechnological, pharmaceutical, environmental, forensic questions; in clinical disciplines (e.g. neurology, dermatology, oncology, pediatrics), academia (teaching/research at universities, research institutions, etc.)
