    About

    MSc Electric Vehicle Engineering is a specialist postgraduate degree that equips you with the tools and techniques necessary to address challenges associated with the development and implementation of electrification of conventional mobility solutions. The focus of technology related economy is drastically shifting towards electrically or electronically controlled autonomous digital systems, smart communication devices, automation and robotics, controlled remotely via smart technology using green energy resources. The postgraduate programme combines principles from electrics, electronics, control, power, automation and robotics to design, manufacture and test smart mobile vehicles/ devices, powered by green electricity. For various applications, these systems and devices are required to interact with objects, know where the objects are, and be able to perform tasks such as moving the objects to a required new position.

    You will be taught about smart electronics that require information from sensors that can detect position, orientation, and visual or audio signals. You will develop academic and practical skills in electric power related areas such as electrical machines and drives, power electronics and batteries, covering all aspects of the vehicle's powertrain. This will enable you to create your own systems that are smart and cognitive, developing them from imagination through to reality. The programme will also offer an optional placement year to all students, enabling you to experience the real world and effectively connect your university experience with it.

    Through studying MSc Electric Vehicle Engineering, you will learn knowledge and skills to design, develop and deploy electrification of conventional mobility solutions. This new course addresses the demands of the industry and the rapid shift towards electrically or electronically controlled autonomous digital systems, smart communication devices, automation and robotics, and also machines that are controlled remotely via smart technology using green energy resources.

    At the heart of your studies will be mechanisms of smart electronics that are fed with data from sensors to detect position, orientation, and visual or audio signals. The systems that you will learn to design extend to electrical machines and drives, power electronics and batteries, and all aspects of vehicle's powertrain.

    • Bachelor's degree: GPA of 2.5 / 4 or overall classification of "Good" or higher
    • UK Bachelor's degree with Honours: Second Class, Second Division or higher
    • US Bachelor's degree: GPA 2.5 / 4

    Career

    An MSc qualification in electrical vehicle engineering will give you a practical ability as the discipline overlaps with a number of engineering professions (i.e. automation and robotics, mechatronics, batteries, mechanical and automotive engineering).     We are thrilled to announce that our international scholarships for September 2022 have been approved and successful award winners are being notified. The is no need to re-apply for another scholarship as your eligibility will be automatically assessed at time of offer. 

    If you are an applicant, you need to ensure that you have submitted a complete application, (including your personal statement and supporting documents) and we will assess your application against our internal criteria.

    Scholarships range between £1,000 and £5,000 - off your first year's tuition fees- (depending on your course  programme). If you receive an offer of a place and are assessed as eligible for an international scholarship, the amount of the award will be indicated in your offer letter. 

    International Scholarships are issued at  the University's discretion and are only available to overseas, fee-paying, offer holders studying on an undergraduate or postgraduate taught programme. Different programmes may attract different amounts and it should be noted that not all applicants will be successful.

    International Scholarships are not available for:
