    For admission to the M.Sc. in Human Resource Management candidates must hold:

    • A 2.1 Honours degree in a Business discipline, or equivalent international qualification

    OR

    • A 2.1 Honours degree in a relevant non-Business discipline eg. Social Sciences or Humanities, or equivalent international qualification

    OR

    • Professional qualifications in Human Resource Management and/or 5 years or more relevant professional experience in people management

    Faculty of Humanities and Social Science

    In the case of all applications, evidence MUST be provided of competence in the English Language. The list below indicates the minimum standards in the English language, which should be met for entry to the postgraduate taught programmes in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Science. 

    *Please note the School of Communications programmes will have different requirements as outlined below.

    Overall score 6.5 or above, with a minimum of 6.0 in all components.

    *School of Communications: Overall score 6.5 or above and 6.5 in writing and speaking. Other sections scores 6.0 or above.

    *Scores must be achieved in one sitting.

    TOEFL

     

    Overall score 580.

    *School of Communications: Overall score 580 or above and all sections scores 55 or above.

    CBTOEFL

     

    Overall score 237.

    Duolingo Duolingo will be accepted with a minimum score of 120 and a score of at least 110 in each subscore. Please ensure the verification link is provided when submitting this evidence.

    Additional Notes:

    1. English language certificates must be awarded within two years prior to the start date of your DCU programme.

    3. For the MA in Translation Studies and the MA in Translation Technologies:

    • Non-native speakers should have a degree in English or advanced English skills (e.g. IELTS 7.0 points, Cambridge Proficiency Pass or TOEFL 600/250 points, Duolingo minimum score of 130 and a score of at least 120 in each subscore). Applicants may be called for interview, and their levels of English tested.

    4. All scores on your English language proficiency test must be achieved in one sitting.

    Career

    The MSc in HRM annual alumni survey provides strong evidence that the programme is positioning graduates for a successful career in the HR profession. Of the graduates tracked, 98% are in employment, with 86% of these in dedicated HR roles. Notably, graduates have moved to positions of elevated seniority and responsibility. 12% of alumni are HR Directors or have Business Partner roles, while 14% are employed as HR Managers.

    Graduates will find employment with multinational companies, consultancy firms, the public sector and not-for-profit organisations. Graduates pursue specialist or generalist roles in human resource management, training and development, employee relations, research, consultancy, or as general managers, particularly in international firms. Recent employers include Intel Ireland, ESB International, Bristol Myers Squibb, Trinity Mirror Group PLC, Tesco Ireland, DELL, Google Ireland, Mazars Ireland, ePeople Recruitment and Smurfit Kappa Group. There are also opportunities for those wishing to undertake further study to doctoral level.

    Accreditation

    This programme is fully accredited by CIPD. Successful graduates thus qualify with both the Masters degree and a professional qualification (graduate membership of CIPD). It equips students to become leaders in the fast-changing world of HR or in international business where there are responsibilities for people management.
