Orthodontic Therapy, Cert HE - Higher Apprenticeship

About

The Dental Care Professional Register (2006) permits dental care professionals to train as orthodontic therapists. Our higher apprenticeship programme is designed to upskill GDC registered dental care professionals. You will gain the knowledge and skills you need to become an orthodontic therapist.

You will spend one day a week studying and four days a week in practice. You'll learn from a team of orthodontic experts. You'll be able to apply what you learn to clinical practice. Clinical work requires the supervision of a GDC registered specialist orthodontist, who will act as your mentor.

Requirements

Entry Requirements

Diploma from a technical / vocational or health college / institute with a GPA of 2.0/5 or 60-64%

Successful completion of on year of appropriate study at a recognised KSA university with a GPA 2.5/5 (65-69%)

Diploma from a technical / vocational or health college / institute with a GPA of 2.5/5 (65-69%)

Career

Future careers

Once you have successfully completed your higher apprenticeship, you can add the title of Orthodontic Therapist to your GDC registration. This will allow you to work as a registered Orthodontic Therapist in the UK.  

Qualified Orthodontic Therapists are expected to complete continued professional development in accordance with GDC requirements.  You can undergo additional training to increase your scope of practice, including dental radiography.
