Careers and employability
The programme will immerse you in research and practical analytical techniques and develop a wide range of transferable skills.
You’ll graduate ready for further study at postgraduate level, including MPhil or PhD research, and prepared for a range of specialised careers. The MRes also meets the training requirements of the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) and Natural Environment Research Council (NERC).
Potential employers, both nationally and internationally, will appreciate the breadth of view, analytical skills and intellectual rigour that comes from studying civilisations and periods so different from our own.
Many MRes graduates continue their studies and progress to doctoral research, studying an MPhil or PhD, or gain employment in research or policy-based environments.
You’ll have demonstrable expertise that’s well suited to a career in lecturing, museum work and the heritage industry.
