Pharmacists are at the front-line of the modern healthcare system. Experts in medicines design and use, they play a critical role in improving patient health.

The content and structure of this course will be changing to reflect the revised standards for pharmacists training set by the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC). This web page will reflect these changes in due course. Please note this affects all pharmacy courses in the UK.

You'll gain a unique knowledge of both the scientific development and clinical use of medicines, equipping you with the skills for a rewarding career in pharmacy or pharmaceutical research.

By studying human biology and disease, pharmaceutical chemistry and physical sciences you'll learn about the causes and progression of medical conditions and how drugs exert their effects. You'll also learn about the appropriate prescribing, supply and administration of medications and the principles of disease progression and medicines optimisation.

As a graduate from one of the top schools of pharmacy in the UK, you'll be well equipped for a rewarding career in pharmacy or pharmaceutical research.

You will need to fill out a form on the UCAS website to apply. UCAS provides guidance on filling out the application, which will help you:

• select your course choices
• write a personal statement
• get a reference
• understand and pay your application fees

If you are age 21 or over, you are defined as a mature student. Although your route to higher education may be different, the application process is the same as it is for everyone else. You still need to apply through UCAS.

We accept a variety of qualifications, including the Access to HE Diploma and Open University credits. View our online prospectus to find out about entry requirements for each course. You should complete all sections of the UCAS form. You must include:

• details of all qualifications, even if you achieved these a long time ago
• full employment history in the 'Details of paid employment to date' section
• reasons for gaps in employment (for example, travel or unemployment), even if this does not appear relevant to the application

In your personal statement you should also explain why you have chosen to return to study now and how you feel you will benefit.
