    About

    Depending on the vocational subject area, students start taking Physics as a teaching subject in the first or third semester. The course timetable will mainly depend on the vocational subject area chosen. The Bachelors Teacher Training Course for Technical Education consists of the vocational subject area (92 CP), the teaching subject of Physics (48 CP), Vocational and Business Education (15 CP), modules on key transferable skills (10 CP) and a Bachelors thesis (15 CP). At the Bachelors level, physics training involves learning the foundations of experimental physics, as well as introductory courses on teaching methodology. A course on Theoretical Physics is offered in which students mainly learn the necessary mathematical foundations.     Students wishing to take physics as a teaching subject should have a fundamental interest in the subject. They must also be willing to deal with abstract formulations and experimental work. Creativity and capacity for teamwork are also useful.

    Some subjects in the Bachelor Teacher Training Course for Technical Education are restricted: English Studies (school subject: English), Food Science, German Studies (school subject: German), Politics, Spanish Studies, Sports.

    Some subjects in the Bachelor Teacher Training Course for Technical Education are admission-free: Catholic Religious Education, Chemistry, Colour Technology and Interior Decoration, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Metals Technology, Physics, Plant Operations and Manufacturing of Wood Products, Protestant Religious Education and Site Engineering.

    How to Apply

    You can use our online application portal to enrol any time between 1 June and 30 September. To be able to do this, you will need a qualification for admission to higher education. At the end of the online application, you will automatically be forwarded to a cover letter (the so-called application for enrollment). Sign this application for enrollment (handwritten or digital) and put it together with the required documents into one PDF document, which you can then upload using the upload link provided. The required documents include your qualification for admission to higher education (e.g. Abitur) and any other supporting documents such as practical training certificates or evidence of language proficiency. We also need proof of your health insurance and evidence that you have paid the semester fee. At the end of the online application, all required documents are listed and must be uploaded as a scan of the original documents by September 30th, 11:59 p.m. Please do not forget to upload your photo for the LeibnizCard . You can find information on this in the application for enrollment at the end of the online application. In September, you will receive your enrolment documents, an invitation to the welcome event for new students and information about any preparatory courses that may be offered. Please note that some degree programmes offer preparatory courses well before term starts.
