School Direct
- Learn on the job in your provider school(s)
- Supported by experienced teachers and mentors
- Underpin your practical learning with university study
As part of this course, you'll:
- Develop your knowledge and understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage and the National Curriculum
- Ensure your teaching fulfils the requirements set out by the government
- Embrace areas of learning and principles of best practice in early primary education across all subjects
- Focus on developing your skill in teaching mathematics, English and science at both key stages
- Put your theoretical knowledge into practice by completing three teaching placements in the Early Years Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1
- Develop your teaching skills across different age ranges to help prepare for future employment
- Learn how to develop children's abilities through playful learning and creative teaching
- Reflect on how teaching methods and opportunities and environments can influence outcomes
*Both routes lead to a PGCE with 60 master's credits on successful completion. There will be three assignments across the year, each leading to 20 master's level credits.
