Why study this program?
At Augustana, a degree in Psychology will allow you to become well versed in psychological topics. You will be able to understand and use different worldviews, concepts, language, and major theories of the discipline to account for psychological phenomena. Students are able to focus their studies in either our mental health and well-being stream, which places a higher emphasis on arts-based psychology courses or our brain and behaviour stream, which prioritizes science-based psychology classes. As a part of this program, students are also required to obtain a co-curricular certificate in either Mental Health First Aid, Brain Story, or Community Engagement and Service Learning to put practical use to your classroom studies in psychology.
Why study at the University of Alberta?
Augustana Campus, located in Camrose, Alberta, one hour southeast of Edmonton, is home to just over 1,000 students from across Canada and around the world. Augustana offers liberal arts and science degree programs in an intimate and personalized setting, with smaller class sizes and a more flexible academic schedule.
Augustana also offers a modified semester system called The Augustana Calendar. Each semester is comprised of a three-week session studying a single course, followed by a more traditional 11-week session studying up to four courses. This gives you the opportunity to dive deeper into research, travel, and other experiential learning endeavors, while at the same time reducing stress and workload.
