About

Youll learn techniques to inspire students around maths, making it enjoyable and ensuring theyre equipped with skills theyll need for in the future. Youll teach across a range of ages and abilities on daily basis so well train you to be handle changing effortlessly between number patterns and sequences to calculus depending on who youre teaching.

After interview you may be advised you need to take a funded Subject Knowledge Enhancement (SKE) course.

Our aim is to help you become a committed, confident and creative teacher so well train you in the essential tools you need to kick-start your career in education. As you progress, youll increase your ability to handle the ever-evolving teaching environment, and by the time your course is complete, youll be in a position to continue developing your understanding, knowledge and skills throughout your professional life.

Taught modules, assignments and School Based Training are structured around the development of your Progress Journal which demonstrates your progress against our ITE Core Curriculum. Our ambitious curriculum incorporates the ITT Core Content Framework (DfE, 2019) and the nationally agreed competences - the Teachers Standards, which all teachers must meet throughout their career.

The Progress Journal also maps your development as a subject specialist with reference to identified subject priorities appropriate to the needs of secondary teachers entering the profession. A system of continuous review and assessment of progress within the Progress Journal will support your growing ability to take responsibility for your own professional development and ensure that you approach QTS with a sound understanding of research-informed pedagogies and practices

Requirements

Entry Requirements

Bachelor Degree from a recognised university with a minimum grade of 60% / Good / 2.5 / C+

English Program Requirements

Even though you may have met the stated requirements, if your first language is not English, we may ask you to take an additional English Language Test when you arrive.

Based on the results of the test, you may be required to attend regular English classes to improve your level of competence. English classes are provided free of charge and are available to all non-UK students who wish to attain greater fluency in English.

Placements

Two-thirds of your course takes place in school and we ensure that you are offered a number of placements in a wide range of educational establishments.

You will do work placements in at least two different schools and also visit others â€“ including a primary school and or a post-16 setting where appropriate. This all helps you to see how teachers are working in practice and gives you a wealth of experience.

You will have subject and professional mentors in school who will guide and support your studies and provide you with feedback.

Application checklist

Think you're ready to submit your UCAS application? Take a look over our handy checklist to make sure you've got everything covered before hitting 'send'.

1. Check your personal details are correct

Sounds simple, doesn't it? But ensure the basic personal information you're providing is spelled correctly and is accurate. That goes for everything from your name and address, to your education and employment history.

2.Re-visit your top five

You can select up to five course choices. Go back and make sure you've selected the right courses at the right institutions - some courses have similar sounding names and different content, so it's best to double check.

3. Triple check your personal statement

By this point, you should have completed a number of drafts of your personal statement, but it's worth giving it one last look over, or even giving to to a friend or family member for a final proof read. If you've been drafting it in a word document, paste it into the UCAS personal statement form to check that it meets the character and line limits, and nothing gets cut off.

4. Ensure your reference is complete

Whether you apply independently, or through a school, college or centre, you will need a referee to provide a reference in support of your application. You wont be able to access your reference, but UCAS will tell you if it has been completed or not.

5. Pay for your application

Once all sections of your application are marked with a red tick, you will then be able to pay for your application. For 2021 entry, the application fee is £22 for a single choice, or £26.50 for more than one choice.

6. Hit send!

As soon as you're happy that everything is good to go, hit the button and breathe a big sigh of relief! Remember, you don't have to wait until deadline day, if your application is complete ahead of time, you can submit it early and get it out of the way.
