About

The bachelorÂ´s programme in social education, social work and welfare science aims at imparting scientific knowledge and analytical competences for detecting and treating social issues. Since it wants to prepare graduates for project- and development-oriented fields, the programme puts special emphasis on teaching research, study projects and research projects. Regarding the professional field of graduates, the programme aims at imparting subject-specific knowledge as well as competences for self- and team-organisation. This course of study consists of nine mandatory modules, among them "Institutions and Organisational Forms of Social Education, Social Work, and Social Policy", "Education and Social Research", "Sociology" and "Psychology". The modules comprise lectures, seminars, tutorials, practical work, study groups, excursions and periods of self-study. The mandatory modules are complemented by two mandatory electives, e.g. "Social Education and Age" and "Prevention and Intervention". Furthermore, students are expected to complete a six-month internship and a bachelorÂ´s thesis.
