Working IT professionals, or those new to the field, can advance their knowledge of modern protocols and application technologies that help developers and operators collaborate in the entire service lifecycle from design, through development, and to production support.

Put learned concepts into action through project-based coursework. Coursework covers essential DevOps elements including software development project management, and system requirements analysis, as well as details, use, and configuration of network applications. Other concepts addressed include hypervisors, virtual machines, paravirtualization and virtual appliances.

Complete three courses to earn a professional certificate in DevOps. Coursework typically can be completed within one year.

Entry Requirements

Good PC skills with experience in IT project management, familiarity with OSI model networking and protocol concepts, previous programming and system administration experience. An additional question-and-answer session regarding prerequisite knowledge may be required for admission. Contact the professional certificate manager and coordinator for more information.

English Program Requirements

International students who fit into any of the following categories will be considered to have met the requirement:

Residents of a country where English is the only official language and who is a native English speaker
Graduates of U.S. high schools
Completed the equivalent of Iowa State’s English 150 or 250 with a grade of B or better at an accredited U.S. 2 year or 4 year college or university.

CONDITIONAL ADMISSION

If you meet all admission requirements but do not meet our English proficiency requirements, Iowa State offers conditional admission to attend our Intensive English and Orientation Program (IEOP). If you would like to enroll in IEOP, on the application choose "I would like to enroll in Iowa State’s IEOP program before I begin the academic study.”
